For current Carroll County Jail custody questions, start with the jail or sheriff's office. For written report records, use the sheriff's public-record process. The sheriff's file room processes requests Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, time permitting.

After a public-record request is processed, the sheriff's office notifies the requester, who has 10 days to pick up the record. Mailed reports require a self-addressed stamped envelope. Photographs or 911 recordings require a mailed request with a self-addressed stamped CD envelope and $3.00.
